Russian Billionaire Pushing the Realm of Yachting Possibility
A design concept that would impress even Q, James Bond’s crazed experimental scientist, it is a yacht with an aeroplane attached. The brainchild of billionaire business tycoon and designer Vasily Klyukin urges yacht and aerospace designers to think again about what is possible given technologies already currently available on the market today.
Many of the fighter jets available today have a vertical take-off and landing (VTOL) system such as the British Harriers and Lockheed Martin’s F35Bs. It works by “simply” adjusting the jet engines to point downwards such that the resulting vertical thrust leads to an upward elevation.
Many of the Superyachts today already have helipads to allow for the passengers to commute between land and sea with ease but this new concept would ultimately push the concept forward even further. You might be able to park your yacht off the coast of Monaco and pop over to Ushuaia in Ibiza to see your favourite DJ play and have a private after-party on your yacht back in Monaco later that evening.
The Super yacht would come with all the bespoke bells and whistles as i’m sure you would expect but the upper deck would house the jet, which would be able to detach itself for take off and re-attach upon landing. It is expected that this design may be widely available by the year 2050 or sooner if Vasily gets his way. Now if that’s not the REGAL RICH life then please tell me what is!
